MASS IN CHURCH

With regard to fulfilling the Sunday and the Christmas obligations, the faithful are required to attend the Christmas Mass besides the 4th Sunday of Advent Mass.

It is recommended that they attend the 4th Sunday of Advent Saturday sunset Mass or on Sunday morning.

If they attend the Christmas Vigil Mass on Sunday evening to fulfil their Sunday obligation, then they would have to attend a Christmas Day Mass on Monday.

Advent Wreaths
There will be a blessing of Advent wreaths after all Masses this weekend 2 & 3 Dec, so do take yours along with you.

 

Sale of Advent Wreaths
There will be sale of Advent wreaths and handcrafted gift items at the canteen on Sunday 3 Dec and 10 Dec after the morning Masses.

All proceeds of the sale will be donated to Caritas Humanitarian Aid & Relief Initiatives Singapore (CHARIS). Organised by the Golden Years Club’s Craft Club. For more info, contact Raymond Ho at 97466770.

 

Collection for the Poor
There will be a second cash collection at this weekend’s Masses for the poor and the needy, under the care of the Society of St Vincent de Paul at our parish. Please give generously to the families and individuals receiving aid.

Cheque donations to the society in aid of the poor should be made payable to “SSVP St Teresa”.

Support the Catholic Church of Singapore through “Gift”
The Catholic Foundation is renewing its appeal for the Giving in Faith and Thankfulness (Gift) campaign, to encourage all Catholics to make a regular contribution financially to the Archdiocese.

Resources are needed to fund the many organisations in the archdiocese involved in families, youth, evangelisation, and several building projects, among other initiatives. This is so that the Church may continue growing for generations to come.

Nativity Set Display
The Cathedral of the Good Shepherd is organising a Nativity Set Display event and invites individuals, families, and Catholic schools and organisations to build a nativity scene that recreates the story of the birth of Christ so as to share with others the true spirit of Christmas. Qualifying entries will be put up for viewing at the cathedral from 9 Dec 2017 to 8 Jan 2018. Selected entries may also opt to offer the set for auction to raise money for the restoration project of St Joseph’s Church (Victoria Street).

School of Witness
The Office for Young People’s School of Witness is an 8-week, live-in discipleship school, that aims to provide an environment of faith in which young people can be encouraged and challenged to go beyond their comfort zones to grow in the awareness of who God is and who they are.

The 2018 session runs from 7 January to 3 March and is open to all young people in the Archdiocese between the ages of 18 (as at 31 Dec 2017) to 30 years old. There will be a school break for Chinese New Year on 15 February 1 pm (before lunch) to 19 February 2pm.

Registration fee is S$600 which covers food, accommodation and all other overheads.

Pieta Singapore
Pieta is a support group made up of Catholic parents who have suffered the loss of their children. The mission is to provide support to other bereaved parents and foster a sense of solidarity in God’s comfort and wisdom.

Pieta holds sessions with scripture, prayer and reflection.

Sessions are open to all parents who are coming to terms with losing their beloved children, regardless of age and no matter how recent or long ago.

Share-A-Pot @ Agape Village
Know of any elders who would enjoy a bowl of nutritious soup, some meaningful activities and making new friends?

In collaboration with Alexandra Health Services, Agape Village will be conducting a weekly Share-A-Pot programme where seniors with little access to proper meals and / or facing neglect may get together to rebuild their bodies, minds and spirits over a good bowl of broth.
