Please continue to pray for all who serve in mission countries, that they remain steadfast in their vocation to be Christ’s messenger of love to those they serve.

October: World Mission Month
This Sunday, which is World Mission Sunday, along with Catholics throughout the world, we are called to offer our prayers and generous financial support through the World Mission Collection, organised by the Pontifical Mission Society for the Propagation of the Faith, to further the mission of Jesus.

Your gift on World Mission Sunday helps:
•People in remote villages, towns and cities through the witness and work of missionaries and local priests
•Children, the elderly, refugees, the sick and orphans through the service of Religious Sisters and Brothers
•To bring the Gospel to the poorest of our human family
•Catechists proclaim the message of hope and peace that only Christ can give

Do offer prayer for the work of the Church in the missions today in the Pacific Islands, Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Please be as generous as you can today for World Mission Sunday.

Invitation to Mission:
To bring the spirit of joy to those who celebrate this day of mission in communion by thanking each person for their presence in the community of faith. Take a further step by encouraging a new zeal to further the Kingdom in new ways. Ask for the Holy Spirit to guide us into deeper communion with Him and with each other.

October: World Mission Month
This Jubilee Year marks the 90th anniversary of World Mission Day, first approved by Pope Pius XI in 1926 and organised by the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith. World Mission Day is celebrated every year in every country wherever there are Catholics committed to building a better world for all of God’s people.

This year, World Mission Sunday falls on 23 Oct. Pope Francis calls on us to be missionary disciples, asking for support to be given to the care of Christian communities and the proclamation of the Gospel to mission lands. You may read his message here.

There will be a World Mission Collection taken up on that Sunday to support the missionary Church, which provides emergency aid when disaster strikes, cares for refugees in war torn countries, and provides rural and health clinics and transportation for priests, catechists, religious and lay pastoral workers. It provides financial support for the daily needs of all missionaries.

Please pray for the missions and be generous on World Mission Sunday.

An invitation to mission: Bring to prayer specific individuals in your immediate social circle who need your presence and attention. Make a commitment to be more generous with your time, create some safe space where it is conducive to encounter the person as a gift.
