Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

The Peace and Joy of Christ be with you.

In the light of our new Pastoral Vision and the thrust to inspire a New Evangelisation in our archdiocese, the Archdiocesan Strategic Planning of Resources (ASPR) Committee, led by Monsignor Philip Heng, SJ, has been working with a survey consultancy team to undertake a two-part survey to help us understand the practices and needs of our Catholics. This will provide clearer bases for the strategic planning of our Church’s resources and pastoral care for our Catholic population.

There are two components to this project:

The first is an Update on Parishes and Mass Attendance. This will be a simple online (internet/smartphone) survey. This quantitative survey will give us the latest information on the distribution of Catholics in the archdiocese in terms of Mass attendance at the various parishes.

This update will be conducted during the weekend Masses of: 13/14 February, 20/21 February and 27/28 February 2016.

The second component is a “Catholic Conversation” with individuals and groups. This qualitative approach will give us personal feedback on “What it is like to be a Catholic in our Singapore Church” today. Such feedback would be of immense help in the planning of our pastoral programmes at both the parish and archdiocesan levels.

The fruits of this project depend very much on your participation in this survey. Hence, I would like to thank you in anticipation of your participation for the growth of your parish and the archdiocese as a whole.

Yours devotedly in Christ,

Most Reverend William Goh
Archbishop of Singapore
